Trailblazers Fall in Series Finale to Drop Conference Series

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers find themselves in unfamiliar territory after falling to the Barton Bulldogs with a final score of 10-6, dropping the conference series this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. This is North Greenville's first conference series loss at home since Landon Powell's first year as head coach in 2015. Bennett Roemer took the mound for his 8th start of the season, but ran into trouble early on. After an RBI single in the 1st inning put the Bulldogs on the board, Barton would increase the lead with four runs in the 2nd. After NGU settled down to pitch two scoreless innings, BC would increase the lead further with a three run 5th inning. However, NGU would get on the board and draw back within striking distance with five runs in the bottom of the inning including a two-RBI double down the left field line by Josh Foulks and an RBI double by Tristan Salinas. The 6th and 7th innings went scoreless to keep Barton ahead by three runs, but the Bulldogs would score two insurance runs in the 8th. Josh Foulks would get one last run on the board with an RBI single in the 9th, but the Bulldogs would ultimately hang on to complete the upset. Roemer took the loss with 2.0 innings pitched.

Bryce Roddey put together a four hit performance and posted two runs scored and an RBI. Josh Foulks recorded two hits including one of NGU's two extra-base hits with a double. He also provided three RBIs. Caleb Cox pitched 2.0 perfect innings of relief, striking out four batters in the process.

NGU will return to action on Tuesday, March 18th against the Trojans of Trevacca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee.
