Rome, GA – North Greenville won its first ever meeting with Shorter University on Friday afternoon besting the Hawks 19 – 12 in conference play.
The Trailblazers scored five goals in each of the first and second quarters while clamping down on the Hawks defensively. Shorter scored just two goals in the second period and trailed 10 – 5 at halftime. Seven different players scored for NGU in the first half including
Kylie Keen who put away three – goals in the early effort.
The Trailblazers expanded their lead in the third quarter with three unanswered goals. The Hawks scored early in the period but NGU limited the damage and led 13 – six after scores from
Lauren Crane,
Ava Walls, and
Katie Keller. NGU saved its best quarter for last, tacking on six goals including two more from
Kylie Keen.
Keen led NGU with six scores on the day.
Lauren Crane finished with four goals to go along with five groundballs and two caused turnovers.
Tori Smith finished the day with five saves as she earned the win in goal.
