Fourth Quarter Rally Not Enough as Trailblazers Fall to UNC Pembroke

The North Greenville Trailblazers fell to the Braves of UNC Pembroke with a final score of 60-52 this afternoon in Pembroke, North Carolina. NGU was outscored in the first three quarters, trailing by ten at halftime. The 3rd quarter saw UNCP continue to carry the momentum, leading by fifteen at the end of the 3rd. North Greenville took over the momentum to begin the 4th quarter, scoring twelve straight points to begin the quarter and getting the deficit down to three. After a free throw by the Braves to get in the scoring column in the quarter, a layup by Abi Oates took the deficit down to two points. However, fouls became an issue for NGU as free throws allowed UNC Pembroke to build the lead back up in the form of free throws, hanging on to win by eight points.

Maliyiah Mason finished one rebound short of a double-double, posting fourteen points and nine rebounds. Ja'Mari Frederick also recorded fourteen points in addition to two assists, two steals, and a rebound. Abi Oates finished with twelve points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

NGU will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, February 26th against the Francis Marion Patriots at Hayes Gymnasium.
