Amaijah Smith's Career Day Not Enough as Trailblazers Fall to Barton

The North Greenville Trailblazers put together a competitive performance in Wilson, North Carolina but ultimately fell short to the Bulldogs of Barton College with a final score of 67-60. After falling by six in the first quarter, NGU outscored Barton in the second by three to trail by just three points at halftime. North Greenville would tie the score early on in the third quarter. Barton eventually was able to regain control, leading by as much as six points. However, the Trailblazers once again evened things up before the Bulldogs scored a layup to take a two point lead into the fourth quarter. A 17-1 run by Barton to begin the fourth put things out of reach for North Greenville. Although NGU was able to drop the deficit back to seven, Barton would comfortably hang on for the win.

Amaijah Smith put together a career afternoon, posting twenty-four points as well as five assists, three steals, and three rebounds. Abi Oates also impressed, finishing with seventeen points, five rebounds, and three assists. Maliyiah Mason posted nine points and seven rebounds.

NGU will return to action on Wednesday, February 5th against the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College at Hayes Gymnasium.
