Tigerville – North Greenville's offense sputtered in the second and third quarters on Saturday which allowed the Lions to take advantage en route to a 57 – 53 win over the Trailblazers.
NGU led after one quarter but the Trailblazers offense scored just 18 combined points in the second and third frames which ended up being costly. The Lions took advantage by scoring 37 – points in the two frames combined to take a 50 – 37 lead in to the final quarter.
The Trailblazers began chipping away at the 13 – point deficit in the fourth quarter scoring the first seven points of the frame.
Amiyah Ware pulled NGU to within three with a three pointer with 2:26 left on the clock and to within one of Visiting Emmanuel with a pair of three throws with 1:19 left. NGU would pull to within one point one more time but the Lions would escape with the help of free throws in the final seconds of the game.
NGU shot just 29 – percent in the loss going 20 of 69 from the field and 8 of 23 from three point range.
Amiyah Ware was NGU's only player in double – figures with 15 – points.
Maliyiah Mason had nine points and six rebounds.
