Tigerville – North Greenville became the first Conference Carolinas Champion in 51 – years on Saturday with a 34 – 20 win over UNC Pembroke in Younts Stadium.
North Greenville scored 17 – points in the second quarter to lead 20 – 13 at half. Pembroke took the opening kickoff of the second half 75 – yards in two minutes to even the score at 20 – 20. The Trailblazers would have the last word however. North Greenville ended the game with 14 – unanswered points to put the Braves in a 34 – 20 hole.
Jerrick Foster put the final nail in the coffin with an interception on UNC Pembroke's final drive.
Dylan Ramirez, the Championship game MVP, finished with four total touchdowns including three rushing and a passing score. Ramirez threw for 261 – yards and rushed for another 40 – yards.
Reggion Bennett led NGU with 81 – yards.
Eric Rasheed led NGU receivers with 119 – yards on six receptions.
Sam Washam had 82 – yards and a score.
Brooks Russ-Martin led all players with 14 – tackles and two pass break-ups.
Damon Early had two tackles for a loss.
Diondre Glover and
Josh Harris both had a sack.
