Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders put together a sweep of the King Tornado this afternoon at Jan McDonald Field, beginning with a 5-2 come-from-behind victory in game one and ending with a 6-5 walk-off win in game two. The lineup continues to perform at the plate, finishing with a total of nineteen hits and eleven runs. King took an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning of game one by way of a solo home run. However, the Crusaders responded in the 3rd with two runs to take a lead and extended the lead with two additional runs in the 4th including an RBI double by
Ali Hartin. The Tornado narrowed the deficit to two with a run in the 6th, but North Greenville answered with a run of their own with the help of two errors.
Karley Green would finish yet another complete game by pitching a scoreless 7th inning to preserve the win. NGU would be the team to score first in game two as
Virginia Bishop would drive both runs in with a double to right center. Bishop would make an impact during her next at-bat with a solo home run to left center in the 3rd inning. King responded with a home run of their own to cut the deficit to one, but the Crusaders answered with two runs as well in the bottom of the inning by way of a solo home run by
Maddie Stone and an RBI double by
Emily Blackwell. After two scoreless innings, the Tornado would tie the game with a three-run 7th inning. NGU would answer with a bases-loaded walk by
Ali Hartin to bring in the winning run.
Karley Green, who pitched 4.0 innings took the win.
Emily Blackwell put together a 4-hit day with 3 runs and an RBI.
Virginia Bishop posted 3 hits, 2 of them for extra bases as well as 4 RBIs and a run scored.
Karley Green recorded both wins, pitching 11.0 innings and allowing 4 runs on 11 hits and 7 walks while striking out 10.
NGU will return to action tomorrow at Jan McDonald Field against the Mount Olive Trojans with a start time of 12:00 PM.
