Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders dropped a midweek nonconference contest to the Saints of Limestone University on a rainy afternoon at Pepsi Stadium. NGU made things tough for the Saints, but Limestone would pull away in the second quarter and add to their lead in the second half, ultimately winning with a final score of 15-6. The Saints led the afternoon in shots 53-32 and ground balls 33-28. North Greenville did lead the game in saves 22-14. In the first quarter, the defense came out strong for both teams as Limestone would manage three goals to lead 3-0 at the end of the first. North Greenville would get on the board by scoring the first goal in the 2nd quarter when
Tyler Pellegrino found the back of the net. After three consecutive goals by LU,
Cole Zarola cut the deficit to four with a goal. Limestone ended the half with the final three goals to take a 9-2 lead into halftime. The two teams would alternate goals for most of the second half, with
Hayden Moffat and
Cam Webb scoring goals for the Crusaders. Limestone would post the final two goals of the quarter to take a 12-4 lead into the 4th. After Limestone added three goals in the quarter, the Crusaders were able to end the game with some momentum as
Christian Cechini and
Nick Jaffe scored goals.
Cam Webb scored a goal and provided 2 assists as well as 3 ground balls.
Austin Jones posted 22 saves at goalie.
Tristan Brown put together a solid defensive performance with 4 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers.
NGU will return to action on Saturday, March 9th against the Fighting Knights of Lynn University in Savannah, Georgia.
