Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders kicked off conference play with a 24-11 victory over the Lions of Emmanuel University this afternoon at Pepsi Stadium. Emmanuel took an early lead by scoring four of the first five goals and ending the 1st quarter with a 4-2 lead. However, NGU would spring to life throughout the 2nd, outscoring the Lions 9-3 and taking a 11-7 lead into halftime. North Greenville would continue to extend the lead in the 3rd quarter, scoring six of the first seven goals and going on to outscore Emmanuel 8-2 to take a 19-9 lead into the 4th. The Crusaders scored four of the first five in the 4th. After a final goal by the Lions, NGU would score the final goal of the match to win by thirteen. North Greenville dominated the afternoon in ground balls 45-27 and also led by a wide margin in face offs 23-14.
Christian Cechini led the Crusaders with 5 goals and 3 assists and also provided 2 ground balls.
Stephen Santini scored 4 goals and recorded an assist and a ground ball.
Liam Brubacher posted 3 goals.
North Greenville will return to action on Saturday, March 23rd against the Hawks of Chowan University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.
