Reece Fields Tosses No-Hitter as Crusaders Sweep Doubleheader Against Southern Wesleyan

The North Greenville Crusaders made history in a doubleheader sweep of the Southern Wesleyan Warriors as Reece Fields tossed a no-hitter in game two of the day as well as the series. Game one was dominated from the start by North Greenville as NGU would scored thirteen runs within the first three innings including an eleven run 3rd inning and ultimately won 22-5. NGU posted eight extra-base hits throughout the game including home runs by Bryce Roddey and Jax Cash, a triple by Landon Shaw, and doubles by Dakota Britt, David Lewis, Jake Sears, Zach Zarra, and Landon Shaw. Myles Daniels took the win with 3.0 innings pitched without an earned run allowed. Game two began with a quick 2-0 lead by NGU in the 1st inning. David Lewis doubled the NGU lead with a two run home run in the 3rd. After an additional run in the 4th, the two teams would go scoreless in the 5th and 6th. With Reece Fields three outs away from a no-hitter, the Crusaders would seemingly put the game on ice with five insurance runs scored at the top of the 7th. Fields would breeze through the final inning, collecting two strikeouts including one to end the game and complete the no-hitter. Only two hitters reached base for the Warriors, one due to a walk and the other due to a passed ball.

Reece Fields made history with a no-hitter, finishing the day with 7.0 innings pitched with just 1 walk allowed. David Lewis put together a solid day with 5 hits including a home run. He also posted 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored. Thomas Powell finished with 4 hits, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored.

North Greenville and Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the series tomorrow with a nine-inning game beginning at 2:00 PM.
