Bats Stay Hot in Sweep of UVA Wise

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders completed the sweep of the Cavaliers of UVA Wise this afternoon at Jan McDonald Field. Both games ended early due to the run rule, with the Crusaders taking game one with a score of 12-2 and game two with a score of 11-3. Karley Green and Sydney Clark were the winning pitchers. Game one saw the Cavaliers hold a 2-1 lead in the middle of the 3rd inning. However, the Crusaders would put together a productive bottom of the 3rd, scoring six runs including a two-run home run by Karley Green and a bases-clearing double by Emily Blackwell. After two scoreless innings, NGU pulled away further with five runs in the 6th including a three-run home run by Lexie Gunter to put an early end to the game due to the run rule. Game two was controlled by the Crusaders from the start as NGU would score three runs in the bottom of the 1st including an RBI double by Maddie Stone. UVAW responded with a run in teh 2nd, but North Greenville would pull away further with four runs in the bottom of the 2nd including a two-RBI double by Ali Hartin. After the Cavaliers scored two in the 3rd, NGU would answer with two runs in the 4th and two runs in the 5th including a game-ending home run by Karley Green to once again force the run rule. 

Ali Hartin finished the day with 4 hits including a double as well as 5 runs scored and 3 RBIs. Karley Green hit 2 home runs and finished with a total of 4 hits as well as 5 RBIs and 4 runs. She also pitched 6.0 innings allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 9.

NGU will head to Gaffney, SC to take on the Saints of Limestone University on Wednesday, February 28th.
