Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders won both games in a doubleheader this afternoon to complete the sweep against the Sand Sharks of USC Beaufort, starting with a thriller that ended with an 8-7 victory by NGU and finishing with a dominating 16-0 victory on an overcast afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. North Greenville improved their record to 5-1 and finished the day with a total of twenty-nine hits.
NGU jumped on USCB early in game one with two runs in the 2nd inning and an additional run in the 3rd by way of a
Pat Monteith home run. However, the Sand Sharks would capitalize on walks to tie the game in the 4th. NGU would quickly reclaim the lead, however, as four runs came in to score in the bottom of the inning including an RBI double by Zack Cowart. After a scoreless 5th, USC Beaufort once again tie the game with a four run top of the 6th, but the Crusaders were able to score what would go on to be the final run in the 7th when
Dakota Britt scored on a wild pitch.
Kadan Roach, who pitched 2.2 solid innings of relief received the win while
Dawson Taylor earned his first save of the season.
Game two was thoroughly controlled by NGU as the Crusaders would jump on the Sand Sharks with a three run 1st inning including an RBI double by
David Lewis. He would also homer in the 2nd inning to put the Crusaders up 5-0. After a two run 4th,
Landon Peavy hit a home run of his own in the 5th to extend the lead to nine. After four runs in the 6th including a two-RBI double by Peavy, Joshua Williams would cap off the scoring in a big way as a grand slam would make the score 16-0, which would also become the final score.
Jake Monroe, who pitched a predetermined 4.0 innings took the win.
David Lewis put together a dominating day, finishing with 6 hits including a home run and a double.

NGU will return to action on Friday, February 16th against the Eagles of Post University at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
