NGU Falls Short to UNC Pembroke

Box Score Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders fell just short this afternoon to the Braves of UNC Pembroke with a final score of 64-60 at Hayes Gymnasium. North Greenville dominated the opening quarter, and although they were outscored in the second quarter NGU still took a 33-28 lead into halftime. UNCP took over the momentum in the third quarter, leading by three going into the fourth. Shooting would cool down for both teams in the fourth, but the Braves were able to hang on for a four point win. Points off turnovers proved to be an important factor as the Braves capitalized off of North Greenville's fifteen turnovers, turning them into nineteen points. Fouls proved to be a major issue for the Crusaders as twenty-five fouls resulted in twenty-nine free throws for UNCP. The two teams finished with nearly identical field goal percentages, with NGU leading the category with a .351 percentage.

Amaijah Smith finished with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Geassy Germano posted 18 points as well along with 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block. Angie Rodriguez provided 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

NGU will face the Tornado of King University on Saturday, February 3rd in Bristol, Tennessee.
