North Greenville Falls Just Short in Conference Carolinas Championship Thriller

Bristol, TN - The North Greenville Crusaders nearly completed a come-from-behind victory but ultimately fell just short in a five set match in the Conference Carolinas Championship match, falling to the Tornado of King University with a final score of 3-2 in Bristol, Tennessee. After struggling in the opening set with a .034 attack percentage and a 25-19 loss, the Crusaders bounced back in set two with a .370 attack percentage and a 25-22 set win. Set three finished with the same score as set two, but in the other direction as King would take the third set 25-22. The fourth set proved to be the most thrilling of the match as the two teams would be unable to pull away from each other and would ultimately require extra points. However, North Greenville would finally put the set to rest with a score of 32-30 to force a fifth set. The Crusaders found themselves in the drivers seat early on, taking an 8-5 lead. However, the Tornado would take over the momentum with a 6-1 run to lead 11-9. NGU would pull back within one, but King would finish with three of the final four points to take the win and the Conference Carolinas Tournament title.

Emanuel Adames was named to the 2023 Conference Carolinas All-Tournament Team.
