The North Greenville Crusaders fell to the Francis Marion Patriots in a doubleheader sweep this afternoon in Florence, South Carolina with final scores of 8-2 and 13-3. North Greenville was able to collect their share of hits, finishing the day with a total of fifteen. However, the Crusaders struggled to turn those hits into runs, scoring just five for the day. Game one was handled by the Patriots early on, pulling away with two runs in the first, two in the second, and three in the third. Both teams would get a run in the fourth. The Crusaders were able to score the final run of the game in the seventh, but it would not be enough as Francis Marion was able to hang on for the win.
Maddie Gore was charged with the loss. Game two began with a two run inning by FMU in the bottom of the first inning. Although
Virginia Bishop drove in a run with an RBI single, the Patriots responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning. The two teams would put two runs on the board in the third with NGU's two runs coming off a Karly Green single. In the fifth, Francis Marion would score four runs to end the game early due to the run rule. Karly Green took the loss as the starting pitcher.
