Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders dropped a five set match to NJIT this afternoon at Hayes Gymnasium in heartbreaking fashion, winning the first two sets but dropping the remaining three to fall with a final score of 3-2. North Greenville took over the set with a big run in the middle of set one, going on to win the opening set 25-20. The Highlanders led set two early on, but a late run by the Crusaders allowed them to narrowly finish with a set two win with a score of 25-22. NJIT controlled set three early on. NGU would fight back to even things out, but the Highlanders would pull away late to win set three 25-15. Set four proved to be the most competitive of the match. After a four point lead by NJIT, NGU responded to even things back up. From there, neither team would lead by more and two, but the Highlanders would hang on to win the set 25-23 to force a fifth set. Set five was led by NGU until a four point run put NJIT ahead by three. North Greenville would close the gap down to one, but the Highlanders would score the final kill to escape Tigerville with the victory.
