Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders extended their winning streak to six games after sweeping the Pioneers of Tusculum University, winning both games 4-3 at Jan McDonald Field. After scoring a run in the first inning, the Crusaders trailed the majority of the game after allowing a run in the second and two runs in the third. However, NGU would slowly crawl back into the game with a run in the bottom of the third then tying the score with a run in the sixth. With the bases loaded in the seventh inning,
Brianna McRae would be hit by a pitch to bring in the winning run.
Karley Green pitched a complete game and received the win. Game two began with three scoreless innings, but the Crusaders put two runs on the board, one in the fourth and one in the fifth by way of sacrifice fly balls. After Tusculum got on the scoreboard with a run in the 6th, NGU responded with a solo shot by
Virginia Bishop and an RBI single up the middle by
Ansley Fowler. Down by three, Tusculum put up a fight with two runs in the seventh inning, but NGU would hang on to prevent the final run.
Sydney Clark also pitched a complete game.
