Tigerville – The roads lead back to Tigerville this week as NGU returns to Younts Stadium to host the University of Findlay on Saturday afternoon.
Both the Crusaders and Oilers are coming off of their first wins of the season as they prepare for week four. NGU knocked off Gulf South foe Mississippi College while Findlay cruised to a win over Southwest Baptist.
A win on Saturday for either team would even their win/loss record at 2 – 2.
- Saturday will be the first ever meeting between North Greenville and Findlay.
- North Greenville's offense had its best overall showing last week, producing its first 100-yard rusher of the season to go along with four rushing scores. The Crusaders look to continue that effort this weekend against a Findlay defense that has given up 190-yards rushing per game.
- Big plays could be made in the passing game for North Greenville. Opponents are finding more success through the air against Oilers defenders, averaging 237– yards and 30 points per game.
- TURNOVERS! The Crusaders did something against Mississippi College last week they had failed to do in the first two games of the season….get takeaways. NGU defenders forced and recovered one fumble and also picked off a pass late in the game. The fumble was returned for a score while NGU's offense turned the interception in to points.
- Fred Billy also scored his first career touchdown for NGU when he returned an MC onside kick to the house.
- The Oilers have done most of their damage through the air, passing for 214-yards a game and seven scores while the running attack has struggled, averaging a shade over 100-yards a game.
- Last week's win over Mississippi College is the first win over the Choctaws for North Greenville since the series began in 2019.
- De'Iveon Donald has been NGU's top tackler over the last two games as the leading tackler in both. He had 10 – stops against Newberry and against Mississippi College and currently leads the team with 25.5 stops with 1.5 for a loss.
- Freshman defensive back Kendrick Clark accounted for North Greenville's first interception of the season last week. The pick was also his first career interception.
- Dylan Ramirez cashed in the team's first weekly award last weekend when he was voted the Freshman of the Week for the Gulf South. Ramirez is ranked 18th in Division II in completion percentage, connecting on 64 – percent of his throws.
- Corey Watkins led NGU's ground game last week with 165 – yards and a score. Semaj Lakin scored his first and second touchdowns of the day while EJ Humphrey also tacked on a TD.
