North Greenville Splits Series With Chowan

The North Greenville Crusaders split a weekend conference series against the Chowan Hawks in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. North Greenville trailed 1-0 in the opener before scoring three runs in the 5th including a two-run single by Aschlyn Hutto. After the Crusaders scored an additional run in the 6th, the Hawks would tie things up with three runs of their own in the bottom of the 6th. North Greenville would once again take the lead in the top of the 7th, but Chowan would score a run as well to force extra innings. With NGU unable to score a run, the Hawks would come through with two singles to drive in the winning run. Bailey Pace pitched the final 1.1 innings but was charged with the loss. The Crusaders bounced back in game two, putting together a seven-run 2nd inning including two-run doubles by Makayla Brackett and Brianna McRae. Josie Reed would also hit an RBI double to bring in the seventh run. Chowan would get on the board with a run in the 2nd. After scoreless 3rd and 4th innings, the Crusaders would collect two insurance runs with RBI singles by Claire Gilmore and Aschlyn Hutto. Hailey Wells, who pitched all five innings, put together a three-up, three-down inning to end the game early due to the run rule.
