Tigerville, SC - In a game that lasted nearly four hours, the North Greenville Crusaders defeated the Bearcats of Lander University with a final score of 17-11 at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. The Crusaders had a solid day overall at the plate, posting a total of twenty hits while holding the Bearcats to just five. However, walks kept Lander in the game as NGU pitching walked a total of eleven batters. The Crusaders proved to be consistent, scoring in every inning, but after taking a 4-0 lead Lander had a big inning in the top of the 4th, scoring nine runs with the help of three walks and an error. The Crusaders responded in the bottom of the inning with four runs including an RBI double by
Marek Chlup. North Greenville's biggest inning would be in the 6th as a bases-clearing double by
John Michael Faile capped off the five run inning. From there the Crusaders would keep Lander scoreless while scoring three insurance runs. Ten pitchers saw action for North Greenville with
Brent Herlong being the winning pitcher.
