Wilson, N.C. – North Greenville held off a fourth quarter rally by Barton on Saturday to earn a 19 – 15 win over the Bulldogs in Conference Carolinas play.
The Crusaders took a 10 – 2 lead in to halftime.
Thomas Cecere added to his team high with four goals scored while
Alex Brooks tacked on a pair.
Joe Amici kept the Barton offense in check with five first half saves in goal.
Barton cut in to the NGU lead in the third period outscoring the Crusaders 6 – 3. The Bulldogs trailed just 13 – 9 at the end of three. The scored five unanswered goals to close out the third.
North Greenville's got things going in the fourth quarter. The Crusaders got three consecutive scores including a pair from Cecere and one more
Alex Brooks to regain a 16 – 9 edge. The bulldogs pulled to within three but Tristain Stephenson added a score with 4:31 left in the game followed by
Kyle Bollman to extend the NGU lead to five goals.
Joe Amici added a pair of saves in the final minutes of the game to preserve the win for North Greenville. Amici finished with 12 stops on the day.
Thomas Cecere finished with a game high six goals on 11-shots.
Kyle Bollman and
Alex Brooks each had three goals while three different players had a pair of scores. North Greenville improved to 2 – 0 in league play and 6 – 5 overall.
