Hickory, N.C. – North Greenville kept it close on Saturday but a late offensive run by Lenoir-Rhyne proved costly as the Crusaders fell to the previously ranked #2 Bears 16-11.
The two teams traded goals in in the first quarter but the Bears created some separation with three unanswered scores to take a 5-2 advantage.
Thomas Cecere scored his first of the season while Haydenn Moffat scored the equalizer to make it 2-2 at the time.
The Bears offensive attack was able to extend the lead before halftime with four straight scores before halftime. NGU scored a third goal in the first period and a pair of scores in the second but Lenoir-Rhyne carried a 10-5 lead into intermission.
The Crusaders produced a run of their own to open up the third period. Moffat and Cecere added their second goals of the game while
Nolan Drop's first goal cut the LR lead to just two at 10-8.
The Bears tacked on to their two goal lead with six more scores before NGU struck again. The Crusaders added three more goals in the final minutes but ran out of time as the comeback fell short.

Hayden Moffat added a pair of scores.
Garrison Story finished with 15-saves in net.
