Defense Impresses in Close Loss to Limestone

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders kept things close but ultimately fell to the Limestone Saints with a final score of 1-0 at Pepsi Stadium. North Greenville played a solid defensive game and was able to prevent the Saints from getting off open shots at the goal, but the NGU offense struggled to get opportunities, putting up just six total shots.

Recap
  • The Saints proved to be the aggressive from that start, posting the first five shots of the match. Kalvin Semedo would record North Greenville's first shot of the match in the 30th minute. Gareth Greene was able to put Limestone goalkeeper Johann Hipper to work, connecting for two shots on goal that were both saved. In the final minute of the half, LU would get on the scoreboard with an assisted goal. 
  • It was more of the same for NGU offensively in the 2nd half as the Crusaders would again get just three shots off with one of them on goal. Goalkeeper Reno Van der Meer showed out in the half with five saves including two diving saves to keep the deficit at one. NGU's final shot would come with twelves minutes remaining. After that, the Limestone defense was able to prevent an offensive opportunity for the Crusaders, allowing Limestone to complete the shutout.
