Big Inning Propels North Greenville Over Belmont Abbey

North Greenville moved on in the Conference Carolinas Tournament with a 12-7 win over the Belmont Abbey Crusaders at Fleming Stadium in Wilson, North Carolina. NGU pulled away with a seven run 4th inning, which proved to be enough to win comfortably even after a three run 9th inning by Belmont Abbey. Logan Chapman pitched seven strong innings and earned the win while Douglas Angeli went 4 for 4 with a home run at the plate.

Recap
  • After Belmont Abbey started the game with a solo home run in the 1st, Brady West quickly evened up the score in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single to right field. Belmont Abbey would score two in the 3rd, but this would prove to be their final lead of the game as North Greenville put together a seven run 4th inning that included a two-run home run by Douglas Angeli, a two-RBI triple by Pat Monteith, an RBI single by Marek Chlup, and a sacrifice fly by Josh Senter. NGU would post three more runs in the 6th by way of RBI singles by Pat Monteith, Jordan Holladay, and Douglas Angeli. Belmont Abbey hit a solo home run in the top of the 8th, but NGU would once again respond with an RBI single by Jordan Holladay. BAC didn't go down without a fight, hitting three RBI singles in the 9th, but Hank Nichols would record the final out to advance NGU through to championship day.
