McRae and Silvester Homer Twice as Crusaders Sweep Southern Wesleyan

North Greenville returned to an even conference record with a series sweep of the Southern Wesleyan Warriors, winning 6-4 and 8-0 this afternoon in Central, South Carolina. The Crusaders recorded an even ten hits in both games while allowing just a total of ten hits between the two games. Brianna McRae and Carmen Silvester hit two home runs each.

Recap
  • Elizabeth Engler would get the start on the mound for NGU. Southern Wesleyan took an early lead in the 2nd inning with a solo home run. However, the Crusaders would respond in the top of the 3rd with an RBI triple by Josie Reed and an RBI single to left field to take a 2-1 lead. The Warriors reclaimed the lead in the 4th with an RBI single as well as an error that resulted in two additional runs. A sacrifice fly in the 5th extended the Warrior lead, but the big inning for North Greenville would come in the 6th inning when Carmen Silvester knocked a two-run homer. That was followed by an RBI double by Brooklyn Stone as well as an error that allowed Stone to score. Bailey Pace, who pitched the final three innings, earned the win.
  • Callie Richards took the mound for game two. NGU was able to get on the board first with a solo shot by Carmen Silvester in the 2nd. The Crusaders would add five runs in the 3rd by way of a solo home run by Brianna McRae, an RBI single by Taylor Koon, and a bases-clearing double by Silvester. Brianna McRae would add to her productive game with an RBI double in the 4th and a solo home run in the 6th. Jaelin Griffin shut SWU down in the 5th and 6th innings as Richards would earn the win.

  • Carmen Silvester put together a productive day with 4 hits including 2 home runs and 5 RBIs.
  • Brianna McRae connected for 2 home runs as well as 3 RBIs and a walk.
  • Brooklyn Stone was solid as well, collecting 4 hits including a double and 4 stolen bases.
