Kellogg Returns to Familiar Form, Scores Seven Goals in Win Over SWU

North Greenville recorded its first win of the season with a 21-10 victory over the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina. After leading 9-5 at the half, the Crusaders would dominate the 2nd half by outscoring the Warriors 12-5. Rachel Kellogg returned to her usual form after returning from injury, posting a 7-goal performance.

Recap
  • The Crusaders would start the game off on a two goal deficit, but Rachel Kellogg would put NGU on the board twelve minutes into the half. NGU would follow that up with unanswered goals by Emily Zambrano, Emma Mayew, and Olivia Foltz. After a goal by the Warriors, Kellogg would respond with a free position goal. Southern Wesleyan would score just one minute later, but North Greenville would respond themselves with a goal by Olivia Foltz. The goals by the Crusaders would follow from Dani O'Meara, Ashley Thatcher, and Rachel Kellogg. SWU would score with 11 seconds remaining, but the Crusaders would take a comfortable 9-5 lead at halftime.
  • After a goal by Kellogg, Southern Wesleyan would take the momentum, scoring four straight goals to pull within one goal. However, NGU would then put the game away with seven consecutive goals including four by Rachel Kelogg and two by Ashley Thatcher. SWU would find the back of the net one last time, but the Crusaders would spend the final eight minutes scoring four consecutive goals.
