Box Score Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders recorded their first Conference Carolinas Tournament win in program history with a final score of 2-1 over the Valkyries of Converse University this evening at Pepsi Stadium. Since joining the Conference Carolinas in 2011, the Crusaders were 0-5 in tournament play heading into today. North Greenville would break through in the first half with two goals, which would ultimately be enough to hang on for the victory. The Crusaders slightly trailed in shots 6-5 in the first half but would lead the way in the second half in shots 13-6. With the win, the Crusaders advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament and will take on the University of Mount Olive Trojans.

Recap

• Converse would be the aggressors early on, posting the first three shots of the match. Christopher Holscher would put up NGU's first shot of the match in the 11th minute. Not long after, Kalvin Semedo would get North Greenville on the scoreboard with an assist by Carlos Navarro. Things would slow down from there as the two teams would post just one shot each over the next 25 minutes. With just a few minutes remaining in the half, Luiz Neto would score a goal with an assist by Seth Hall to put North Greenville up 2-0 which would go on to be the score at halftime.
• The Valkyries would once again put up the first three shots of the second half, but from there the Crusaders would record seven of the next eight shots. With fifteen minutes remaining, the Valkyries were able to get on the board with a goal to pull back within one. Shortly after, the Crusaders were forced to play a man down after Michael Lamb was charged with a red card, but NGU would overcome the adversity and hang on for the win to move on.

Individual

• Luiz Neto scored a goal and posted a team-leading seven shots with two of them on goal.
• Kalvin Semedo posted a goal and four shots, all of which were on goal.
• Carlos Navarro recorded an assist as well as three shots.
