Box Score Tigerville – North Greenville extended its win streak to four games on Saturday with a 66-57 win over Converse College in Hayes Gymnasium.
North Greenville battled through 22-turnovers on Saturday which led to 17-points for the Valkyries. North Greenville was able to capitalize on Converse Miscues though and turned in 25-points on 18-miscues by the Valkyries.
The Crusaders trailed two at intermission, trimming a nine-point deficit to just two before halftime. Damiya Montgomery knocked down a triple in the final 51-seconds to make it 27-25. Montgomery finished with 10-points and was two for five from deep.
North Greenville pulled ahead two minutes into the third frame. A pair of free throws from Savannah Hughes evened it at 27-27 while a lay-up from Journey Muhammed put NGU up two. The Valkyries took the lead twice more but were unable to extend the advantage.
A 46-45 lead for Converse at the 6:42 mark of the fourth quarter was quickly erased and Haylee Luttrell would put NGU up six points with a pair of free throws with just under four minutes left. A three from Muhammed and a duce from Peace Okeke extended the lead to eight points (59-51).
Converse trimmed the eight-point lead to four points with 30-seconds left before the Crusaders sealed the conference victory with free-throws, improving to 8-8 in league play.
Karen Donehew led all players in scoring with 21-points. Luttrell added 10-points while Peace Okeke and Savannah Hughes both had nine. Okeke finished the game with 19-rebounds. The Crusaders dominated the points in paint with 30 compared to just 16 for the Valkyries.
