Box Score North Greenville suffered a 66-54 loss to the Lees-McRae Bobcats in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Down by nineteen points as the 3rd quarter came to an end, the Crusaders did have a strong 4th quarter by scoring 24 points and cutting the deficit to twelve points. Karen Donehew recorded a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
1st Quarter
NGU took a quick 5-2 lead early on. An even quarter saw the game tied at 5-5 and again at 11-11. Lees-McRae would score the final three points in the quarter to take a 16-13 lead as time expired.
2nd Quarter
The Bobcats hit a three-pointer early to increase their lead to six points, but North Greenville fought back with a 6-0 run to tie things up yet again. However, LMC closed out the quarter with a 12-2 run to lead 31-21 at the half. The Crusaders shot 27.6% from the field with Donehew leading in points with five.
3rd Quarter
Lees-McRae would come out strong to begin the second half by scoring the first nine points to take a 40-21 lead. Both teams would score nine points to close out the quarter to keep the Bobcat lead at nineteen points.
4th Quarter
The Crusaders put up quite a fight in the quarter, including a 10-0 run to close the deficit to ten. LMC would slightly open their lead back up, finishing the game up by twelve points. NGU improved in the 2nd half with a 40.0 field goal percentage. Karen Donehew and Haylee Luttrell led the Crusaders with twelve points each for the half.
Individual
Karen Donehew posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. She also recorded 5 assists and 2 blocks.
Haylee Luttrell had a strong game with 12 points and 3 rebounds.
Ayano Shelton put up 8 points, 4 rebounds, an assist, and a block.
