Box Score North Greenville put the match away early with three goals in the first half and three more in the second to beat the Southern Wesleyan Warriors 6-1 in Central, South Carolina. With today's win, the Crusaders took over third place in the Conference Carolinas standings.
1st Half
Southern Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute with a goal by Rachel Curtis. Just three minutes later, NGU responded when Ariana Perry scored her second goal of the season. In the 25th minute, a foul by the Warriors allowed Sarah Hazelwood to take a penalty kick, which she converted to put the Crusaders ahead 2-1. North Greenville's third goal came in the 37th minute by Megan Biehl, her fifth of the season. NGU took a 3-1 lead into the half.
2nd Half
The second half went by quietly until the 70th minute when Michaela Gleed scored a goal with an assist by Kayla Cruse to put North Greenville ahead 4-1. Gleed has now scored her first and second goals of the season in consecutive matches. The Crusaders would work to keep the ball off their side of the field, and would take several additional shots in the process. Karly Denaburg would then make her presence known with her third goal of the season in the 84th minute followed by one more goal by Emma Shearer with assists by Sarah Hazelwood and Karly Denaburg to close out the match.
Individual
Ariana Perry scored her second goal of the season and put up 4 total shots.
Karly Denaburg collected a goal late in the match. She finished with 4 total shots.
Sarah Hazelwood and Karly Denaburg were both credited for a goal as well as an assist.
Megan Biehl and Michaela Gleed each scored a goal.
