Box Score Wilson, N.C. – North Greenville’s offense went cold on Monday night in the first round of the Conference Carolinas payoffs as the Crusaders were eliminated by Barton following an 89-62 loss.
The Crusaders shot just 31-percent for the game while the Bulldogs shot 45-percent from the field including a 54-percent performance from three-point range. The Crusaders knocked down just five of their 20 three-point attempts.
Alicia Jones came off the bench and put up 15-points for NGU which trailed by 26-points at halftime. Divonnie Powell was North Greenville’s only other double-figure scorer with 10-points. Ciara Suggs finished with eight points off the bench.
The Crusaders trailed by as many as 35-points on Monday night, but were able to trim it to 24-points midway through the fourth quarter. North Greenville worked hard to claw its way back into contention but it just wasn’t the Crusaders’ night as the Bulldogs answered with a 12-1 run en route to the quarterfinals win over NGU.
The Crusaders are now 0-2 against Barton in the post season, falling to the Bulldogs in the semi-finals in 2011. The Crusaders finish the season with a 14-15 record overall and an 11-11 mark in Conference Carolinas play.
