Box Score Tigerville, S.C. – Two Crusaders set career highs on Tuesday night but the Flying Fleet escaped Tigerville with a one point, 87-86 double-overtime win in the first Conference Carolinas game of the season for either team.

How it Happened
- North Greenville trailed by three points heading into the second quarter. The Crusaders evened it at 19-19 early on in the second.
- The Crusaders turned up the pressure in the second, forcing 11-turnovers. The turnovers resulted in 10-points for North Greenville.
- North Greenville’s pressure also sparked a 12-0 run as the Crusaders took a 36-23 advantage. Kathleen Rodgers and Karen Donehew knocked down a pair of three-pointers during the rally while Ayano Shelton added some support from the free throw line.
- North Greenville shot 40.6-percent from the field in the first half with 14 total points off of Flying Fleet turnovers.
- The Fleet showed resolve in the second half, fighting back to even the score at 56-56 by the end of the third period. The Fleet forced five turnovers by North Greenville and turned them into 12-points to chip away at the once 14-point lead of NGU’s.
- Erskine would take its first lead since the second period with 9:09 left in regulation. The Crusaders would tie it at 59-59 one minute later but a 9-2 run would put them in 68-61 hole.
- North Greenville would battle back though, taking a 76-73 lead on a pair of free throws from Rodgers.
- Erskine would answer with a pair of their own to send the game into overtime as NGU failed to get off a final shot before the buzzer.
- North Greenville would own a three-point lead in the first overtime period after a pair of Elizabeth Trentham free throws made it 84-81 with 10-seconds left.
- Erskine once again came up with the big shot in the final seconds though as a three from Dareisha Sowell knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game and force a second overtime.
- The Crusaders took an 86-84 lead eight seconds into the second OT when Savannah Hughes took the opening tip to the basket for a bucket.
- The score would hold until Madison Whitt scored Erskine’s only field goal of the third period for the 12th tie of the game.
- Neither team could find the bucket for the final 3:13 of the game. The Crusaders missed their final three attempts while Erskine came up short on five attempts.
- The go-ahead score for Erskine came in the final seconds of the game when Raina Hall split a pair of free throw shots to give Erskine an 87-86 edge.
- NGU would have one final shot at winning it but Karen Donehew’s final shot was off the mark.
The Good Guys
- Donehew led all scorers with a career-high 31-points to go along with nine rebounds and nine assists.
- Bailey Breazeale finished with 18-points and five boards while Kathleen Rodgers had 11-points.
- Savannah Hughes had 10-points and three steals on defense.
- The Crusaders shot 40-percent from the field for the game.
The Other Team
- Dareisha Sowell and Alexis Scott led the Fleet with 22-points each.
- Megan Davis finished with 12-points while Christian Brown knocked down 11 to go with a game-high 14-rebounds.
- The Fleet shot 39.1-percent as a team, finishing with 24-points off of North Greenville turnovers.
