The North Greenville Trailblazers battled throughout but ultimately came up just short in a 14-13 loss to Barton this afternoon at Truist Stadium. NGU opened the game strong, matching Barton with a 4-4 score at the end of the 1st quarter. The Bulldogs edged ahead in the 2nd quarter, outscoring the Trailblazers 2-1 to take a 6-5 lead into halftime. The 3rd quarter proved to be pivotal as Barton extended its lead with a 5-4 advantage in the period. However, North Greenville refused to go away, responding with a strong 4th quarter to tie the game at 12 and later take a 13-12 lead with just under seven minutes remaining. Despite the late push, Barton scored the final two goals of the game, including the game-winner in the closing seconds, to secure the narrow victory.
Ava Walls and Mary Regan led the Trailblazers offensively with three goals each. Aubree Mayse and Kami Straub both added two goals each, with Straub also contributing an assist and six draw controls.
