North Greenville Falls Behind in 2nd Quarter in Loss to King

The North Greenville Trailblazers were able to keep up with the Tornado of King University, but fell behind throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters to ultimately fall with a final score of 74-53 in Bristol, Tennessee. Although NGU shot just .294 in the 1st quarter, fouls helped the Trailblazers keep up with the Tornado with four made free throws to trail by just two heading into the 2nd quarter. From there, King would take over the game, outscoring the Trailblazers 27-8 to take a 45-24 lead into halftime. The Tornado would continue to pull away in the 3rd quarter, once again outscoring North Greenville 16-9. The Trailblazers would end the afternoon on a strong not, leading the 4th quarter 20-13 but closing the deficit to 21. For the game, NGU finished with a .250 field goal percentage and struggled from three point territory, shooting .207 from behind the arc. North Greenville did dominate in offensive rebounds, leading the afternoon 18-5 and led in second chance points 12-5.

Maliyiah Mason posted 8 points and 3 rebounds. Jayla Cook finished with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal. Janyia Williams recorded 6 points, 9 rebounds, and an assist.

NGU will face the Hawks of Chowan University on Saturday, January 10th in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.
