The North Greenville Trailblazers successfully overcame a large deficit, trailing 10-1 in the 1st inning but defeating the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene University with a final score of 14-13 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Cole Munhall took the mound for his fourth start of the season, but lasted just two outs into the game after allowing eight total runs, four of them earned, before being replaced by
Connor Brinson. NGU was the first team on the board as
Brett Blomquist hit an RBI single. However, that lead wouldn't last long as the Trojans put together a ten run inning with the help of an error. North Greenville would put up a fight in the top of the 3rd with a five run inning including a two-RBI single by
Josh Williams. Trevecca Nazarene responded with a run in the bottom of the 5th, but the Trailblazers were able to close the lead further with three runs in the 6th including a two-run home run by
Josh Foulks as well as an RBI double by
Brett Blomquist. After a scoreless 7th, NGU would take the lead with five runs in the top fo the 8th including a two-RBI single by Josh Sears. Trevecca Nazarene, down by three runs, would respond in the bottom of the inning with two runs, but
Matthew Taubensee would close out the 9th with a perfect inning to secure the win.
Thomas Skipper was the winning pitcher.
Brett Blomquist posted three hits including two doubles as well as three runs and two RBIs.
Bryce Roddey also recorded three hits including two doubles as well as two runs, an RBI, and a walk.
Josh Foulks hit a home run and provided two total hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs.
North Greenville and Trevecca Nazarene will face each other again tomorrow in Nashville, Tennessee.
