Crusaders overpowered by Falcons

Tigerville, S.C. – North Greenville fell to 1-6 in conference play on Tuesday night after a 111-78 loss to Pfeiffer University.

The Falcons set a blistering pace during Tuesday night’s game, shooting 82-shots in 40-minutes of play. Pfeiffer hit 31 of those shots for a 36.4 shooting percentage. The Crusaders countered with a 21 of 56 percent performance.

North Greenville hung with the Falcons early on, closing a seven-point game in the early minutes to take a 10-9 lead. The advantage would be short lived though as Pfeiffer went on a 10-0 run to take the lead at 19-10 lead. The Falcons would go on to take a 58-34 lead as the two teams headed in to halftime.

The Falcons would keep the pressure on in the second half, as NGU was unable to gain any ground on a team that is averaging 106.5 points per contest. The Falcons finished the game with six players in double-figures compared to just two for North Greenville.

Justin Dotson led the Crusaders with 18-points while Miguel Cartagena finished with 14. Daniel Burchette finished with nine points on the night while Bryce Allen provided a boost late in the game also scoring nine points.

The Crusaders, now 5-7 overall on the season will host Columbia International on Thursday night before hosting King University on Saturday. NGU will tipoff at 7pm on Thursday night in Hayes Gymnasium.
