NGU Falls to Bobcats to Open Up 2026 Season

The North Greenville Trailblazers opened up the 2026 season on the road this evening in Milledgeville, Georgia, falling to the Georgia College & State Bobcats with a final score of 5-0. GCSU struck almost immediately, scoring just 41 seconds into the match to take an early 1-0 lead. The Trailblazers generated a pair of opportunities over the next 20 minutes, including a shot on goal by Natalie Tardie, but the Bobcats would add their second goal in the 23rd minute to take a 2-0 advantage into halftime.

The Bobcats took control early in the second half, scoring three times in a span of less than eight minutes. Mackenzly Cheely scored in the 52nd minute before Mia Palumbo found the net less than two minutes later. Cheely struck again in the 60th minute to extend the Bobcat lead to 5-0. North Greenville continued to battle, with Valerie Hernandez putting a shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the Trailblazers were unable to break through as Georgia College secured the shutout victory.

North Greenville finished with 6 shots, including 2 on goal, while Georgia College recorded 19 shots with 10 on target. Tardie led the Trailblazers with 3 shots and put one on goal, while Hernandez recorded a shot on goal. Jaycee Watkins and Allison Curlee each added a shot.

NGU will return to action on Wednesday, September 2nd against the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern State University at Pepsi Stadium.
