Also earning a bronze was Victor Shellhammer who clocked a time of 1:59 in the 800-meter. The winner of the 800-meter was Gray McIntyre. It was McIntyre's first showing at the indoor championships, claiming the top spot on the podium with a time of 1:58 seconds.

CJ McFerrin finished first in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.33. It was also McFerrin's first appearance in the conference meets as a freshman. The Crusaders also claimed gold in the men's 4x400 meter relay. The team of Marcus Thomason, Gray MacIntyre, Antavious Lawton, and CJ McFerrinclocked a time of 3:24. North Greenville finished second in the event in 2021.

From Coach Stober
"I am so incredibly proud of the athletes that competed for us this weekend. They battled with everything they had. Going into this meet the projections had our men's team finishing in 4th and our women's team finishing in 9th. But as our athletes proved…those where just projections based on the regular season. The conference championships are all about who shows up and performs on that day. Our team did just that. They performed…and they performed extremely well.

We had a lot of people step up and score points (or more points) than they were projected. Jordan Meekins was one of those people. Jordan scored in three different events, contributing some huge points to our men's team score. Freshman, Antavious Lawton, had a big weekend. He took home the bronze in both of his individual events (200 and 400), but was able to anchor a come-from-behind victory for our men's 4x400 relay. A relay team that consisted of ALL freshmen. Adrian McGee finished his last career indoor meet as the conference champion in the long jump, scoring 10 big points for the men's team. Both Jacob Holcombe and Hayden Goode ran lifetime PB's in both the 5K and the 3K within 24 hours of each other, scoring points on the distance side. The mile was as fast and as deep as it has ever been this year. But Victor Shellhammer was able to score some points for us, and then turned around in a matter of just a couple of hours to take home the bronze in the 800. Gray McIntyre delivered in his first ever conference championship by winning the 800 and running a leg of the winning 4x400 relay. Senior Amir McCall showed a tremendous amount of grit (as is usual for him) and closed hard with a lean at the line to finish 4th in 800 as well. We had three guys finish in the top 4 of the men's 800! That is HUGE! Freshman CJ McFerrin battled through a hamstring injury to take home two golds, one in the 60 hurdles and one as a member of the 4x400 relay. Another freshman, Marcus Thomason, also scored for us in the 60 hurdles and ran a solid opening leg for our men's 4x400 relay.

For the women, freshman Hannah Hill delivered! She won the 400, scored in the 200, and anchored the 4x400 relay which went on to finish 3rd. Another freshman, Carleigh Vaughn, had a big weekend. She finished 5th in the 400 and ran a great opening leg of the 4x400 relay. Thanks to Olivia Huskey and Taylor Harris, we were able to score 11 points in the women's high jump. Olivia showed a lot of toughness and courage by competing through an injury. Briley Arnold scored in the 800 with a 5th place finish, and turned around hours later to run a leg of the 3rd place 4x400 relay. JoAnn Smiling was also an important member of that 4x400 relay team. She ran a great third leg to help put Hannah in position to finish well. Last but not least, on her final attempt in the women's triple jump, Jordan Hagood popped off a massive lifetime PB which took her from 4th place to the silver medal position.

We had so many people step up this weekend. Our accomplishments this weekend might be easily overlooked by some, but what our team did was special. I'm so proud of our team, how they competed, and how they represented our program. I'm grateful for the work of all of our coaches (Coach Fletcher, Coach Cote, and Coach Harris), and for their investment into our student-athletes. They are a huge part of the success that we had this weekend. We are all excited with how we finished this indoor season, and we are looking forward to outdoor."
